Why Seville?
Seville: A City Forged by Time.
Seville is a city shaped by centuries of history, legends, and conquests. Believed to be founded by Hercules or the Turdetani tribe, it passed through the hands of Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, and Romans—who named it Iulia Romula. After the fall of Rome, Visigoths and later Muslims took over, renaming it Isbiliyya. The Almohad period saw Seville flourish, with iconic structures like the Giralda and Torre del Oro.
Conquered in 1248 by King Ferdinand III, the city became a key Castilian capital. The 16th century brought architectural splendor, though economic decline followed. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Seville endured revolts, war, and disaster, but rose again with the 1992 World Expo. Today, it stands proud as Andalusia’s capital—vibrant, historical, and ever-evolving.
CAFÉS
My favorite cafés in Seville
Virgen Coffee
This hole-in-the-wall coffee bar is tucked behind one of Sevilla’s most famous landmarks, La Setas. It’s a small spot, perfect for grabbing a quality coffee to go – they also sell beans to take home. Their coffees are made from high-quality beans that are blended and roasted on-site.
Location
C. Regina, 1, Casco Antiguo, 41003 Sevilla
What I like about it
It’s a definite case of quality over quantity, and although their menu is limited, what they do serve is excellent! I always order the flat white here.
Muy Coffee
MUY Coffee is one of the growing number of speciality coffee shops in Sevilla, Spain. It’s known for having some of the best tasting coffee in Seville. Located just a few minute walk, between Feria and Alameda, it’s one of the best coffee places in Seville if you’re in the north of the city.

Delatribu Coffee
Delatribu is very small inside with no seating although there are a couple of seats outside, – it’s mostly a takeout place. Despite that, they do serve up some of the best speciality coffee in Seville. Considering its size, there’s so much packed into this tiny space.
